Every year law enforcement officers across the country, as well as their families, make the ultimate sacrifice, laying down their lives to ensure that others may live in peace. Public Safety Cadets will honor that sacrifice with a wreath laying ceremony during Police Week, at the National Law Enforcement Memorial, on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 2:00pm.
This year’s honorees are Virginia Beach Police Officers Cameron Robert Given and M.L. Reese, who were both killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop on February 22, 2025. The Virginia Beach Police Department sponsors Public Safety Cadet Unit 531

The 2026 Public Safety Cadets National Leadership Academy is an exciting opportunity for cadets to strengthen their leadership skills, expand their knowledge of law enforcement, and connect with fellow cadets from across the country. Held August 1–8, 2026, at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, the academy will feature hands-on workshops, leadership lectures, physical training, and educational trips throughout the Washington, D.C. area. Please note this is a Law Enforcement Sector Only event. Eligible cadets must be registered members of a Public Safety Cadet program affiliated with a law enforcement agency and complete the full application process by May 15, 2026.
