This summer, 32 selected Public Safety Cadets will have the unique opportunity to participate in the second Public Safety Cadets National Leadership Academy. Participants will be housed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
ELIGIBILITY
The applicant must be a currently registered participant in good standing with Public Safety Cadets. Cadets must complete the application, secure the necessary approvals, and submit the application along with a statement of “What a Career in Law Enforcement Means to Me” in no fewer than 500 words.
SELECTION PROCESS
Each registered Public Safety Cadets Unit may nominate one Cadet of their choosing to the National Academy. Additional Cadets may apply and will be competitively selected until the Academy reaches capacity. All applications must be received no later than June 17, 2022.
Each application will be reviewed by a selection process using law enforcement executives composed of members of the Public Safety Cadets National Committee – Law Enforcement Sector, in partnership with the U.S. Army Military Police School, and the applicant will be notified by June 24, 2022, or earlier.
ACADEMY CONTENT
The Academy will consist of interactive workshops, dynamic lectures, high intensity exposure to U.S. Army Military Police training and operations, and physical fitness. Lessons taught throughout the week will provide context to critical leadership evaluation processes for training and law enforcement operations addressing successes and failures of leadership in law enforcement.
PLAN
Cadets will report to St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) on July 24, for transportation to Fort Leonard Wood. The academy will begin with a group meeting on Sunday evening July 24. The instructional portion will conclude on the afternoon of July 29. Cadets will be transported to St. Louis Lambert International Airport on the morning of July 30.
FEES
Participants will be required to arrange transportation to and from St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). A $295.00 administration fee is required (DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY WITH APPLICATION). Some limited Scholarships are available for Cadets who cannot afford the administration fee (see certification portion on application). Cadets arriving early or staying late will be responsible for early/late costs and any lodging and meals outside of the Academy. Spending money and uniform costs are the participant’s responsibility. Roundtrip transportation from STL to Fort Leonard Wood as well as meals are included from the evening of July 24 through the evening of July 29. Lodging will be provided by the Military Police from July 24-30.
UNIFORM/PHYSICAL TRAINING GEAR
Public Safety Cadets will provide shirts and hats for the Academy.
Each Cadet is responsible for the following: one unit dress uniform. Khaki colored trousers/BDU pants.
Khaki colored BDU style shorts. Physical training clothing: running shoes, white socks, t-shirts and
shorts. Additional information will be provided to selected Cadets.

The completed application form with the appropriate certifications must be RECEIVED, via email at NLA@PublicSafetyCadets.org no later than June 17, 2022.
