Planning is underway to hold the 2nd Session - National Academy at the George Mason University July 26 - August 1, 2020.  This event will guarantee each PSC Unit participation by one Cadet and one Mentor of your choice. New for 2020- there will be a separate training track for Mentors with course development in conjunction with the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) and the George Mason University Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy.

Registration will commence April 1, 2020. Look for agenda and application materials on-line at that time.  The fee for each Cadet or Mentor is $435 which includes lodging in air conditioned dorms, meals and PSC swag (Polo and T-Shirts, Ballcap, Water Bottle, and much more!)

The purpose of the Public Safety Cadets National Leadership Academy (NLA) is to bring Cadets together from throughout the country for emersion in dynamic team building and leadership instruction during a week-long, live-in experience. Cadets will benefit from presentations provided by prominent law enforcement, public safety and academic leaders that emphasize servant leadership. Lessons taught throughout the week will provide historic reference to leadership and failures of leadership in law enforcement.

The NLA serves as a unique opportunity to prepare the next generation of law enforcement officers to lead people, build coalitions and be results driven through interactive workshops, dynamic lectures, and physical fitness activities.  During field trips around the National Capital Region, Cadets will examine challenges of leadership associated with the democratic freedoms public safety officers are sworn to uphold and protect.

This premier event is hosted by the Fairfax County Police Department in association with the George Mason University Police Department and Center of Evidence Based Crime Policy.   Cadets are invited to participate in this premier event that will provide discussions and dynamic activities to better understand the roles and challenges facing public safety leaders and our communities today.

2019 PSC Leadership Academy

2019 Leadership Academy













The Public Safety Cadets first in-residence Leadership Academy will be held August 4-10, 2019, in Fairfax, Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C.  The Academy will consist of interactive workshops, dynamic speakers, physical fitness, and field trips around the National Capital Region which will build upon leadership lessons taught throughout the week.  Cadets will visit the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, the National Law Enforcement Museum, the African American Museum of History and Culture, and take part in a leadership lessons walking tour of select monuments in Washington, D.C.  The Academy is hosted by the Fairfax County Police Department and co-sponsored by the George Mason University Center for Evidence Based Crime Policy and the George Mason University Police. 
 
Each registered PSC Unit is allotted one spot to send a Cadet of their choosing.  Additional Cadets will be competitively selected until capacity is reached.  Cadets and/or their sponsoring Unit are responsible for travel to and from Fairfax, Virginia and a $100 registration fee (scholarships are available for those who cannot afford this cost).  Cadets will be housed in air conditioned dorms on the campus of George Mason University and meals are included.  While attending the Academy, Cadets will also learn about a variety of law enforcement career opportunities. 
 
The focus of the 2019 Academy is leadership in law enforcement and failures of leadership.
 
To apply, submit an application which must arrive at info@PublicSafetyCadets.org by June 1, 2019.  Cadets will be notified of the acceptance by July 1, 2019.
