2019 PSC Leadership Academy

The Public Safety Cadets first in-residence Leadership Academy will be held August 4-10, 2019, in Fairfax, Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C. The Academy will consist of interactive workshops, dynamic speakers, physical fitness, and field trips around the National Capital Region which will build upon leadership lessons taught throughout the week. Cadets will visit the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, the National Law Enforcement Museum, the African American Museum of History and Culture, and take part in a leadership lessons walking tour of select monuments in Washington, D.C. The Academy is hosted by the Fairfax County Police Department and co-sponsored by the George Mason University Center for Evidence Based Crime Policy and the George Mason University Police.
Each registered PSC Unit is allotted one spot to send a Cadet of their choosing. Additional Cadets will be competitively selected until capacity is reached. Cadets and/or their sponsoring Unit are responsible for travel to and from Fairfax, Virginia and a $100 registration fee (scholarships are available for those who cannot afford this cost). Cadets will be housed in air conditioned dorms on the campus of George Mason University and meals are included. While attending the Academy, Cadets will also learn about a variety of law enforcement career opportunities.
The focus of the 2019 Academy is leadership in law enforcement and failures of leadership.
