Trafficking training video necessary for Summer Showdown competition
PSC, in cooperation with the Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking (LCHT), is pleased to provide all attendees with a 90 minute training video that provides a basic introduction to Human Trafficking, including the definition of human trafficking, laws against human trafficking, what human trafficking looks like in the US, how victims of human trafficking differ from victims of other crimes, evidence that officers should look for in human trafficking cases, and best policing tactics to combat human trafficking. This training was specifically created for the Summer Showdown and speaks directly to the call for service you will receive from dispatch when you compete in July. This training is proprietary to the LCHT for use only during the Summer Showdown and is not for distribution. Whether competing or not, we encourage all cadets and mentors to use the link below to watch the training. If you are competing in the human trafficking competition, you will find this training essential.
9mm Marksmanship Competition added to Summer Showdown!
We have obtained the use of an outdoor range and will now add the National Marksmanship Competition as an individual event to the Summer Showdown. The National Marksmanship Competition (NMC) is an individual event limited to 220 competitors that serves as a unique opportunity for Cadets to demonstrate the safe and proper handling of firearms in a competitive environment while contributing to the development of skills required by the law enforcement profession. This is not a team event and th e Classification System is not applicable. The competitor capacity was determined by availability of firing points at the range. Assignment to a relay will be based on the competitor’s highest scores previously fired on two Public Safety Cadets Center Fire Pistol Courses (PSCCFPC) submitted on the NMC Firearms Training Certification Form. The highest 220 aggregate scores submitted will be assigned a relay to compete in the NMC.
Entry requests with all required forms must be submitted via email and received by June 30, 2023. Please read all attachments completely in order to submit entry requests to: nctc@publicsafetycadets.org. See you at the Summer Showdown!
