Ocean County & Toms River Public Safety Cadets take top honors at the NJ competition

It is with tremendous joy and pride that your New Jersey Cadets (Ocean County and Toms River) did exceptionally well at the annual New Jersey State Youth Law Enforcement Competition. Many months of their hard work and dedication has absolutely paid off and it was a pleasure to be a part of it.
Over 100 Cadets and Explorers from throughout the State came together this weekend to compete in various Law Enforcement scenarios such as "Shoot / Don't Shoot", Burglary in Progress, Domestic Violence, Motor Vehicle Stops and Arrest and Search. They also competed in a Drill competition and PT test.
Toms River Cadet Unit # 137 did an amazing job this weekend and placed second in the "Shoot / Don't Shoot" competition. Unit #137 did an outstanding job during the PT test and their Cadet Captain, Maria Dreher, exhibited exceptional leadership qualities within her platoon and throughout the entire weekend.
The "Shoot / Don't Shoot" scenario, run by the Ocean County Sheriff's Office and Lacey Township Police Department, involved a United States Marine Veteran who was at a VA hospital for his medical appointment when it was determined that he was not taking his proper medications. The Veteran was in crisis which lead him ultimately to shoot and injure a doctor at the hospital. Once dispatched to the call, the Cadets were required to safely, quickly and aggressively make entry to the building, conduct a thorough search of the facility and confront and secure the suspect.
Ocean County Public Safety Cadet Unit #1 also did an outstanding job. Unit #1 placed
1st in Domestic Violence,
1st in Shoot / Don't Shoot,
2nd in Burglary in Progress,
1st and 2nd in Domestic Violence,
2nd and 3rd in Arrest and Search,
2nd place in the Drill competition and
Received "Top Overall Unit" in the State for the third year in a row!!!
On behalf of Unit #137 and Unit #1, we would like to thank the PSC board of directors for your continued support and guidance and for assisting us in obtaining the additional insurance we needed in order to attend this event. [click 'download attachment' to watch video]
